Default PSP or DS

Which one are you going to get (or not get either), and why.

Well, I say that I'm getting a DS for Christmas. I've basically grown up on Nintendo since I was a kid...so I've been more on the Nintendo side, I mean I didn't get a PlayStation until like 2 years after it came out.

I will admit, however, that the PSP is looking quite nice, and I may pick one up if I get off my lazy arse and get a job.

Thoughts?

If I get one, it'd be the psp. CD based games have also been more desirable for me.

I've been a bigger follower of Sony. I find they have better games, they're longer, and more complex. The gaming time is longer as well. I'm hoping the PSP will have games much like the Playstation 2.

Well, it's been awhile since I got my DS (on Christmas) but I must say, I am really enjoying it. The only complaints I have are that the launch titles were terrible (the only good one is Super Mario 64 DS), and when playing SM64DS it's kind of awkward to use the D-Pad to move. The controls get awfully weird without a joystick and you tend to fall off a lot. I can't use the stylus/thumbpad to move for my life, unfortunately.

Anyways, there are a few games I'm looking forward to with the DS. Final Fantasy III, Advance Wars DS, Vandal Hearts DS, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles DS, and Metroid Prime Hunters.

Well first and foremost the DS and SP are completely different systems. The DS uses two screens (one of which is a touch screen) where as the Sp is just one. THe graphics on the DS are better than SPs (although some games don't show that :/).

Also, minor details, the DS has 2 more buttons stereo sound, wireless play, and a headphone port that doesn't involve a stupid GBA SP set.

ANd I sure hope to God you meant "SP" and not "PSP".

Otherwise, I"m not sure aboot the PSP too much, other than it has a short battery life and the disc sometimes shoots out at you (haha, not kidding either -- there were some defects in the original releases in Japan)

The PSP has almost the computing power of the PS2, and close graphics. Battery life depends on what games you are playing, but it is shorter than the DS overall. And it uses a type of minidisks.
